HTML is the basic programming language of the internet.  It stands for "HyperText Mark-up Language."  It may seem a bit difficult to most people.  However, you can learn it if you put you mind to it.  It's easy enough to learn that you don't need to take a class to do the basics in web page development.  When building a web page, you really are using the same principles over and over.  You don't have to do much to start out.  If you start out with a simple page, you shouldn't get discouraged.  You can then change things and learn more effects later.   If you use some of the links from below, you should have no problem.  If you do think that you are going to have a problem, I suggest that you purchase Microsoft FrontPage.

HTML Goodies: The Primers - This page will teach you everything you will need to know to get started on your own home page.  It offers seven primers.  They are meant to be done one a day, hence one week total.
Extensions To HTML 2.0 - This page is offered by Netscape. It has several different pieces of HTML code and explanations of them.
Composing Good HTML - This page is for people with a better knowledge of HTML.
